Steven Johnson has written a cool book called “Where good ideas come from”. (Heres a short video intro about it) The thesis is that ideas grow and evolve over time. One person may have have a seed of the original idea. Then as they talk about the idea, others may come up with different additions to the idea. There is an organic growth process to ideas. They often don’t come ready made and packaged. And to seed this organic growth process its useful to have open social networks where people are freely sharing information and hunches.
I see the gift circle network creating these open freely sharing social networks. From these networks new models of doing gift economies will emerge.
